Interested in the After Effects course?

After Effects skills will make you a media production ninja. Take your content creation and digital marketing to the next level!

NEXT COURSE START: MAY 14, 2020

I’m pleased to announce the upcoming start for my next After Effects course at Centennial College! After Effects is an amazing tool to add motion to your media. Animate your text & photos, add titles and special effects to your video clips, sync movement to audio, and create amazing moving visuals for social media or web!

I’m very excited about teaching this course again. I designed the curriculum and created a program that will walk you through the basics and have you working with dynamic engaging projects in no time. Beginners and intermediates welcome – this is an introductory course.

Some proficiency with Adobe software like Photoshop is an asset but is not required. If you have experience with time-based media editing in video or music software you will find motion concepts familiar.

We will look at:

  • Adobe After Effects UI, tools and techniques
  • Animation and Motion Graphics techniques
  • Integration of After Effects with image and video editors (Photoshop & Premiere
  • Producing for broadcast, social media and web

It’s a weekly hands on course. Over ten weeks you will also learn a few tricks for special effects and get feedback from me and your classmates. We work in a lab with Mac computers with full Adobe CC, but you’re welcome to bring your own.

Student Work

Please also check out some student work from our class:

The videos are by Karim Kennedy & Michael Wilson – thank you both for your participation in the course and for sharing these videos from your portfolios!

The videos demonstrate what can be done in a short 10-week course with some hands-on practice and passion to explore and experiment. IT doesn’t hurt that Karim has a background in music via his DJ work and Michael is a video producer – a multi-disciplinary mind can come up with some great concepts for motion graphics projects.

This motion and effects piece was created for the final project – it was a bumper that became a trailer/commercial. Amazing what one can do with a few logos and some hard work and inspiration! Great job Karim!
